About Me
Dr. Nasiya Ahmed, a native Houstonian, received her undergraduate degree in mathematics from The University of Dallas in Irving. She received her medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston and completed her residency and fellowship at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She is board certified in internal medicine, geriatrics, and palliative care. She was formerly Associate Professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in the Division of Geriatric and Palliative Medicine where she was medical director of their inpatient ACE (Acute Care of Elderly) Unit and was heavily involved in grant funded research as well as nursing and physician education, locally, nationally, and internationally.Dr. Ahmed has been interviewed multiple times on television and the Houston Chronicle. During her time at UT, she published multiple articles on improving care for the older patient. More recently, she worked at Intercede Health where she was medical director for their Transitional Care Clinics, caring for patients with difficult to manage chronic illnesses. She is passionate about health and wellness and her goal is to use the multidisciplinary skills used to care for older and sicker patients to promote health and wellness in adults of all ages. In her free time, she enjoys reading traveling, volunteering, playing capoeira, and spending time with family, friends, and her parrot.
